If you are making banana bread and you use regular flour, would you use baking soda or baking powder?

My mom told me not to use either baking soda or baking powder if i were to use regular flour and i can't remember which one she said not to use.If you are making banana bread and you use regular flour, would you use baking soda or baking powder?
Try this one. Its from an old NY restaurant that was the first to have a salad bar. Its really moist and delicious!

2 Eggs


1 c Packed Light Brown Sugar


3/4 c vegetable Oil


1/2 c Sour Cream


1/2 ts Cinnamon


1 ts Baking Soda


1 ts baking powder


1 ts Orange Juice


1 1/3 c Mashed Ripe Banana


1 c Chopped Walnuts


1 3/4 c Unsifted flour





In bowl, beat eggs. Whisk in brown sugar and oil until thoroughly blended.


Add sour cream, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, orange juice, mashed


banana, walnuts and flour mixing well preferably by hand.


Pour into oiled 12';x4';x4'; loaf pan. Bake in 375 oven for 50 minutes and


until done. Cool in pan on rack for 10 minutes. Loosen edges and turn out


to complete cooling on rack. Wrap in foil or waxed paper.If you are making banana bread and you use regular flour, would you use baking soda or baking powder?
you use both to get the bread to rise correctly. Use only soda for pancakes or cookies





Banana Bread





3 eggs, beaten


1 c. vegetable oil


2 c. sugar


2 c. mashes banana


2 tsp. vanilla


1 tsp. baking soda


½ tsp. baking powder


1 tsp. cinnamon


1 tsp. salt


½ c. pecans, chopped (optional)


3 c. AP flour





Grease and flour a 10” Dutch oven. In a large bowl, beat eggs, then add oil, sugar, banana, and vanilla; mix vigorously to cream together. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in flour until well combined then add optional nuts. Pour batter into Dutch oven. Bake at 325° with 7 coals under and 12 coals on top for 1 to 1 ¼ hours, until tooth pick inserted in the center comes out clean. You can also use 2 loaf pans for this recipe if you like.


Serves 12 to 16
Add 1 1/4 teaspoons of baking powder and a pinch of salt to every cup of regular flour! :)
